China plans to build a global grid with international partners by 2050. Liu Zhenya, chairman of State Grid Corporation of China, announced the plan at a meeting in Berlin.



According to a report on the website of the German newspaper Le Monde on December 11, Xi'an Automotive Power Supply Co hosted by China State Grid Corporation and the German Association of electrical engineers discussed the possibility of connecting the world with UHV transmission cables in the coming decades. According to the plan, clean energy power will be mainly transmitted through the Internet, which is the second international conference held in the United States after relevant activities.



Liu Zhenya said that the global energy Internet initiative proposed by China will be launched in three stages: to promote regional networking of renewable energy by 2020; to complete the construction of large renewable energy bases by 2030, to prepare for the subsequent intercontinental networking; from 2030 to 2050, to implement intercontinental networking, that is, global networking.



Liu also talked about expanding wind power facilities in the Arctic and connecting them to solar power plants near the equator, the report said. It is said that UHV transmission technology is the foundation of the global power grid. China has accumulated about 10 years of experience in this field. According to the plan, the power of the global grid will be transmitted through 800000v DC cable or 1100000v AC cable.
